Joe Lenner of Infinite Ceramic Tile sent us pictures of a fantastic historical renovation that he has recently completed.
The customer wanted the tub removed and a shower in its place, while maintaining the original look of the tile and the period of the home.
White and black subway tile completed with pinwheel mosaics on the floor was just what the tile-doctor ordered!
I love the black and white details of this bathroom and shower. I would have continued the white subway tile above the black line of tile in the shower. Why did you not tile all the way to the ceiling in the shower area? Why give yourself two surfaces to maintain, paint and tile? While the height of the tile in the shower former bathtub area would have been appropriate if a bath was still located there, it needs to run all the way up the wall to meet the ceiling and ideally the ceiling too. In previous times people washed at the sink and only took baths once a week, not showers several times a day.
