How does a retired tile-installer spend his afternoons? You may think that he would be relaxing poolside or reeling in a trophy trout; however, this chap thinks up ways to add spice to his kitchen!The mosaic pictured on the backsplash is amazing. The 1x1’s are a mix of black slate, frosted and mirrored glass, and a silver-coated stone from Tiles-By-Onyx. He blended the glass with various sizes of tumbled travertine.
The design in this kitchen is a great example of how you can use the same material but lay it differently in each space. The main part of the kitchen the mosaics were arranged in “islands” of pattern, while the space at the desk is more of a “fade” effect.
A great design with great fun! I wonder how long it took for the Mrs. to agree to it?!
