How do I make a statement with my backsplash tile?

There are many options for a kitchen backsplash. Often if you have a large backsplash area above your sink or stove you want to do something unique. You can use a mural, find a fun mosaic, or insert decoratives. How about a niche? You can set some useful kitchen items where they are handy and it gives you a unique look. The drawing below incorporates a niche area under the hood filled with marble tiles, glass accents, and a metal and marble border.

Even using minimal amounts of mosaics
with your field tiles can create a powerful look without being overwhelming.
There are a variety of mosaics and decoratives to choose from. If you like the look of solid glass, blends of various materials, or all stone. Maybe even a porcelain waterfall pattern. Whatever materials you end up choosing you can design something extraordinary for your space. Remember...there are no rules!

Using a waterfall pattern behind a hood can
emphasize the height and create a more dynamic look.
You can create a similar look even if you aren't tiling to the ceiling.
Here are a few new random pattern mosaics from Maniscalco called Interlocking Stix that would work perfectly in the above pattern.
